She was born January 3, 1921, in Harrisburg, PA, the daughter of the late Mervin and Rosa (Slothower) Comp.
Ruth was the widow of Vernon L. Madsen.
She was retired from the former Book of the Month Club, Mechanicsburg and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Dillsburg and the Red Hat Society of Carlisle. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.
Ruth is survived by four sons, Robert L. of Wellsville, Ronald J. of Dillsburg, Ricardo D. of East Berlin, Mervin L. of Dillsburg; and two daughters, Patricia A. Kieffer of Mechanicsburg and Lois M. Zeigler of East Berlin. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, May 4, 2012, at 10:30 am in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg. A viewing will be held Thursday from 7-9 pm and again on Friday from 9:30-10:30 am both at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
