Benjamin Cornelius Eck was born in Antonovka, Volhynia, to Cornelius Zacharias Eck and Catherine (Unruh) Eck. His Baptism was 2 June 1868. He arrived in Philidelphia abord the SS Kenilworth (with his family) on 9 January 1875 during the great Mennonite migration to Kansas. He married Eva Nachtigal on 9 Jan 1876; their children were Helen, Carolina, Agnes, Lydia B., Adina, Joseph & Josephine (twins), Minnie, Ida,and Daniel.
