Most of his life he lived in and around the Quenemo community. He married Dorothy Hensey, Feb. 6, 1929. in Kansas City. She survives.
He was a farmer all his life.
He was a member of the Quenemo United Methodist Church, Past Master of the Quenemo Masonic Lodge, member of the Farm Bureau and had been a board member of the Agency Township.
He is also survived by three sons, John H. Casten, Jr., Lumberport, W.Va., James R. Casten, Plano, Texas, and Jeff Casten, Quenemo; a daughter, Johanna Roney, Waverly;12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
