Son of Milton George Black and Lady Kate King Black ... He was "Killed In Action" near Kesternich, Germany while fighting with the 310th Regiment of the 78th Lightning Division.

Palatka Daily News Obituary dated Wednesday, 21, Mar 1945 reads:

Pvt. Wilford Milton Black (1920-1944), former resident of Jacksonville was killed in action in Germany on December 16, 1944, according to word received yesterday by his sister, Mrs. N. C. Cannon, 1004 Barin Street, Naval Air Station, Jacksonville.
Private Black was born in Palatka and lived in Jacksonville prior to moving to Bridgeville, Del., where he made his home for the past seven years. He entered military service training at Camp Blanding and Camp Pickett, Va., before going over seas in November, 1944.
He is survived by his wife and small son of Bridgeville, Del. and his father M. G. Black, and sister, Mrs. H. C. Cannon, both of Jacksonville and several aunts and uncles living in Florida.
He is a nephew of Hugh Black, Peniel and the late A. M. Black and made his home here for several years.
