Indianapolis, died Monday, Nov. 7,
1994, at Carmel Care, Carmel.
Born in Delphi June 4,1896, she
was the daughter of Ward and Clara
Belle Hunt Dunkin. She was
married in 1919, to John C.
Hughes, who died in 1938.
Mrs. Hughes was a resident of
Indianapolis from 1943 to 1990,
and had been a resident in Carmel
Care for four years. A graduate of
Flora High School, she was a
secretary of the Indiana State
Teachers Association for 15 years,
and a homemaker. She was a
member of the Baptist church.
Surviving are two daughters,
Martha Lee Abernathy of South
Bend, and Jeanne L. Shockley of
Indianapolis; a son, Jack C. Hughes
of Indianapolis; six grandchildren;
and 12 great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by four brothers
and two sisters, including her twin.
Services were held this afternoon
at Neptune Funeral Home with
Pastor Dan Butcher officiating.
Burial was in Beech Grove
Cemetery, Sharon.
