Robert L. Caldwell Jr. (1928 - 2012)

Because of God's free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, Robert Luther Caldwell Jr. went to be with our precious Lord on Sunday, April 29, 2012. Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery in Fort Worth. Memorials: Contributions in Bob's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Robert "Bob" Caldwell was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Temple to Robert L. Caldwell Sr. and Violet Sonendriker. He grew up in Bell County and joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1946. He earned a BBA from UNT and worked as an industrial engineer for 17 years before being called by the Lord to be an educator. He returned to school to earn a B.S. from Texas Wesleyan and later an M.Ed. from UNT while teaching and raising his family. An avid scholar, he taught science for over 17 years before retiring to travel and spend time with his wife and family. Bob was married to his lifelong sweetheart, June Reagan, for almost 59 years and was an inspiration to his friends and family through his strength of character, faithfulness to Christ and love of country. He served as a deacon and sang in the choir at First Baptist Churches in Euless, Hurst and Bedford and was a respected Bible study and adult Sunday school teacher.

Survivors: Loving wife of almost 59 years, June; their children, Kristie Winfield and her husband, Kim Winfield, of Grand Prairie and Seliece Womble and her husband, Lee Womble, of Houston; grandchildren, Allie Thompson and Kirk Thompson; and stepgrandchildren, Philip Winfield, Jonathan Winfield, Katie Womble and Emily Womble.
