He died at his residence on Highway 378 East. He was a Navy veteran. He retired from Milliken and was a member of Caldwell Masonic Lodge No. 182 and Republican United Methodist Church, McCormick. Survivors included two daughters, Lucinda Deason and Marie Trail, both of McCormick; five sons, Stephen Collins of McCormick, Austin Collins, Ernest Collins, Leon Crook and Lynn Crook, all of Lincolnton GA; a brother, H. B. Collins of McCormick; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
