U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Union College, in 1810, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1814 and commenced to practice law in Schenectady, New York. He was adjutant general of New York in 1823, district attorney of Madison County, (1821-29) and a member of the New York State Assembly, (1829-30). In 1833, he was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Congresses, serving until 1837. After his term, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 90.
