Binkley-Freddie Ray, 47, of Merrill Apartments, Longview, died at a local hospital Oct. 3, 1951 as the result of an accident which resulted from a police pursuit of an armed bandit. Born in Hillsboro, Ore., Aug. 1, 1904. He was a merchant patrolman. Previously he had been employed by Weyerhaeuser Timber Co., as a customs inspector at the Port of Longview and a deputy sheriff here. He was a member of the Longview Masonic Lodge and the Ancirent Order of United Workmen. Survivors include the widow, Norma L.; father, Jerry Binkley of Oregon City; a son, Marnell F. Binkley of the U.S. Navy at Norfolk, Va.; a daughter-in-law and a grandson, Stephen M. Binkley, in Seattle; one brother, Delbert Binkley; five sisters, Mrs. George Day, Mrs. Wilma St. Germain, Mrs. Pearl Turnbult and Mrs. Viola Kroll, all of Portland, and Mrs. Katherine Higgenbothen of Seattle. Funeral services pending. The Steele Funeral Home is in charge.
