Andrew purchased two 40 acre parcels of land in Martin County, (Lost River Township) from John Waldrip and wife 28 December 1843. In 1849 Andrew sold his land and migrated to Mahaska County, Iowa, where they are found in the 1850 US Census:

They remained there until 1864:

Sarah "Age 57" KY?
They then migrated to Walla Walla County, (now Columbia County), Washington. They settled near Dayton, Washington, where he continued to farm. Land sold prior to their move to Washington (Reference: Deed book M--page 56 Keokuk County (Benton Township), Iowa: 40 acres sold to Thomas Rank
in 19, February 1864 NE quarter of SE quarter of Section 18, signed Andrew and Sally Abel.
Their graves were marked by wooden grave markers, which are long gone. The old cemetery sets out in the center of a plowed field, but is fenced and is still used by some families.
