Valerie Rose M. Teran

Little Valerie was born the precious baby daughter of Audrey (Martinez) and Steven Teran. She was a sweet little girl who loved her Mommy, her Daddy, and her big sister, Paula. Her daddy was an employee of the Las Cruces Bowl bowling alley, and he had taken his little girls to work with him that morning because he couldn't get a babysitter that day. Upon arriving, they stumbled upon and became victims of a robbery at the bowling alley as it was happening. As the robbery progressed, the two bad guys lined up seven people — including four children — and shot them execution-style, leaving them to die in a fire they then set to cover the robbery and murders. Little Valerie, pictured here with her big sister, Paula Holguin, 6; died along with her sister; her father, Steven, 26; and a teen-ager, Amy Houser, 13. The murderers have yet to be brought to justice.

Not of This World

You, my Roses, were one of a kind,
Not of this world, not really mine.
On borrowed time you came to me,
But taken... Oh, so suddenly.

Your mission, my angels, was clear to see,
To shine so brightly over me.
So pray for me, as I walk alone.
For Mama, someday, will come home.
