Ida Fredericka Quarfoth was born March 24, 1858, in Rockeby parish Skaraborg, Sweden to Johann Frederic and Mary Christina (Olofsdotter) Qvarfot. While in Sweden, she married K.J.O. Soderberg, who was an engine driver. They had a son Sven Karl born February 1, 1877, who died May 24, 1878 of diphtheria. It is not clear what happened to Mr. Soderberg, but there is no record of him after this time.

Ida, along with her sister Anna Maria, sailed from Gothenburg on October 18, 1878, and the destination was Newage. They came from the Parish of Grangarde, located in the Province of Dalarna. They sailed on the ship "Rollo" from Gothenburg to Hull in England. Then by train to Liverpool and on a new ship to New York. The passenger manifest from Liverpool has been destroyed, and they were not able to give the name of this second ship. From Vikars Sven Danielsson, the Father, Mother, Johan Petter, and Oscar Fredrik also emigrated with Ida and Anna M in 1878.

The family apparently went directly to Chicago when it came to America. Ida married Eric Wallgren there on December 31, 1878. This is where Olga was born in 1879 and Anna in 1881. The family then moved to Ishpeming, MI where Huldah and Agnes were born. Eric worked in the mines there. After he died in 1889, Ida moved to St. Paul, MN.

She married Olof Winberg on October 8, 1893 in St. Louis Co., MN. They subsequently moved to Atkinson, MN where they had a boarding home and store. Olof and Ida had three children: Ethel Josephine, Esther Amelia, and Olof Eugene. The family were former members of Atkinson Lutheran Church. The family moved to Duluth, MN and lived in the West End on Courtland Street. Ida worked at Patrick Woolen Mills. Later, after the death of Olof, she lived with Ethel and Charles Ostenberg at 4532 Jay Street. She stated that Erik Wallgren was the kindest and most wonderful man she knew. His half brother Robert came to St. Paul, MN for a visit, but didn't like it and went back to Sweden.

Ida lived a long life, passing away at age 95 on July 30, 1953 in Duluth, MN. She is buried at Sunrise Memorial Park in Duluth, MN.
