Robert James Wells, was born January 6,
1875 and passed away at his home on
August 3, 1948 at the age of 73 years, 6
months and 28 days. His father and
mother John D. and Elizabeth Wells being
the first permanent settlers in Marshall
County coming here in 1854.

He was married to Edith Carson on June
25, 1902 and to this union one son, Robert
Edward was born who is married and lives
at Cawker City, Kansas.

“Bob” was a lover of horses and dogs and
the outdoor life and the beauties of nature.
He was training a dog at the time of his
death.

Wherever hewent he spread cheer and
happiness to all with whom he came in
contact with.

He served more than 40 years on the School
Board of District 22.

the Golden Rule and the Ten Command-
ments were his church and he lived up to
them, doing all the good he could.

Besides his wife, Edith and son Robert, he
leaves to mourn his death, his sister, Mrs.
Veda McConchie and two grandsons.

Burial was in the Wells Family Cemetery,
southwest of Frankfort, Kansas.
