In the 1910 US Census, she is living with her son George. In the 1920 US Census, she is living wirh one of her children.

Elvira was the daughter of Daniel Lockhart and Charity Beshears. She was the second wife of widower Jonathan Kelly Ball (son of Thomas H. Ball and Rachel Kelly). He had three living children of four when they married) They married on 19 Jul 1861 in Lee County, VA. He was a confederate soldier in the Army, but was ordered to return home before the close of the war on account of poor health. They had six children:

Her husband lived some years after the war ended, having died in 1877, when their youngest son, George William, was only eleven months old.

Elvira remarried to her brother-in-law, a widower with four children, named Isaac Ball (son of Thomas H. Ball and Rachel Kelly) ca 1880 in Tennessee.
