British Navy Admiral. First Earl of St. Vincent. He fought during the American War of Independence. He assumed command of the Mediterranean fleet, and defeated the Spanish in Cabo de San Vicente in 1797 when Spain was allied with Napoleonic France. He was First Lord of the Admiralty between 1801 and 1804.
