Frank E Hodge, 70, of 124 NE 3rd St., died at a Walla Walla hospital Thursday. He had been in ill health for some time. Hodge was born in Hastings, Iowa. He married Ruby Vanderpool in Glenwood, Iowa on Oct. 17, 1921. They moved to Council Bluff, Iowa , moving to Milton-Freewater 10 years ago. He had been a blacksmith for the Union Pacific Railroad for 28 years. Besides his wife at the home, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Kermit (Doris) Sasser of Milton-Freewater; two sons, Frank Hodge and Ferrill Hodge, both of Council Bluff, Iowa; nine sisters, Myrtle of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Clara Inman and Mrs. Mary Wood, both of Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Emma Eddie, Mrs. Edna Harmon, Mrs. Helen Harris, Mrs. Madge Fraz and Mrs. Reba Rocha, all of Council Bluff, and Mrs. Dorothy Clark of Zion, Ill.; a brother, Marion Hodge of Council Bluff. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Munselle-Rhodes chapel with the Rev. Everett Gardner of the Wesley Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
