She was born Sept. 30, 1918, in Haverhill, N.H., the daughter of Harold and Lucy (Sawyer) Hill.
Gladys was a member of the AuSable Forks Senior Fan Club. 4H leader for 36 years, she and her late husband, Tink Emerson formed the AuSable Forks Echo 4H Club.
They ran the farm for many years formerly known as the Rockwell Kent Estate. She answered the ambulance phone for two years.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great - grand - mother and enjoyed making crafts, sewing and cooking.
She is survived by two daughters, and sons-in-law, Joyce and Wilfred Parrotte of Redford and Linda and Walter Dubay of AuSable Forks; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Eileen Emerson of Cadyville; seven grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Mildred and Ernest Hartley of Piermont, N.H., Celia and Herman Ball of Warren, N.H., Dottie and Tom Verrill of Zepheryhills, Fla., and Hazel Ames of Woodsville, N.H.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Rita Jones of Woodsville, N.H.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her husband, Tink Emerson, whom she married Oct. 22, 1933; and a son, Leroy Sampson Emerson predeceased her.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at the funeral home at 9 AM. Burial will follow at the family plot in Fairview Cemetery in AuSable Forks.
