Henry was born in Louisville, KY in 1886. He was the oldest of five children. When his mother died unexpectedly on December 20, 1903, Henry's four younger siblings moved into the German Protestant Orphan's Home, so their father could maintain employment. Sometime before WW1, Henry moved to St. Louis, Missouri and was working for the St. Louis Southwestern Railway. He lived in St. Louis until a few months before his death on December 20, 1959. Oddly enough, Henry died on the same day of the year that his mother had, 56 years earlier. Also, Henry died in 1959, 100 years after his paternal grandfather had died, in 1859.
