Christen Hansen Dies; Funeral Held Here Saturday

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Third ward chapel for Christen Hansen, 80, who died the afternoon of September 23 at the home of his daughter Mrs. Marie Hansen of Elsinore following a ten days illness of ailments incident to age.
Bishop Alex Jensen conducted the services. Speakers were Arthur Poulson, J. H. Erickson, G. W. Coons and Bishop Jensen. Musical numbers were two selections, "Though Deepening Trials," and "Abide With Me," by a double mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Otto L. Anderson, Mrs. Ruby Nielson, and Mrs A. B. Robinson, Mrs. Reginald Peterson, H. B. Mendenhall, J. Lerue Ogden, Donald Hansen and Boyd Jensen; a solo, "The Day is Ended," by Mrs. Minnie Sylvester of Elsinore; and a solo, "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine," by Mrs. Glen Meyer. The invocation was by N. P. Peterson; the benediction by John H. Kyhl. Bishop Hanmer E. Peterson of the Fourth ward dedicated the grave, interment being in the city cemetery.
Pallbearers were Henry Baker, James Christensen, Alex Elliott, J. H. Ford, Henry Poulson and P. C. B. Peterson.
Relief society members, in charge of Mrs. Sarah Gardner, carried the many beautiful flowers.
Mr. Hansen was born September 19, 1856 in Aalborg, Denmark, a son of Hans and Annie Marie Poulsen. He married Anna Marie Poulsen in Denmark in 1882, and four years later they came to Richfield, where he had since reside. After the death of Mrs. Hansen in 1901, he married Alice Peterson in 1905 in the Manti temple. His second wife died last January.
Mr. Hansen had been a farmer his entire life although at one time he was caretaker at the Otter Creek reservoir. He had been an active worker in the L. D. S. church.
Surviving are seven sons and daughters: Andrew Hanson, Salt Lake; Mrs. Ann Allan, Safford, California; Mrs. Nora Riddle, Antimony; Mrs. Marie Hansen, Elsinore; Mrs. Joy Olcott, Kimberly; Lewis and Conrad Hansen, Richfield. Twenty-six grandchildren and several great grandchildren survive.
