Lewis "Dee" Barnes, resident of Salinas, entered into rest May 3, 2011 in Salinas, CA, he was 86. Born in Oklahoma raised in Oregon, he moved to California in 1948. He worked in the dairy industry for many years and also worked as a Dairy Manager at the Soledad State Prison before retiring in 1990. He served in World War II. He loved his wood working projects. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife Helen Barnes, daughter Leona Holmes, brother Chancy Barnes and sister Louise Cook. Loving father of son Eric (Diane) Barnes of Watsonville and son-in-law Jeff Holmes of Oregon. Dearest brother of Lynn (Ethlema) Barnes of Oregon, Loving grandfather of Lisa Holmes of Oregon and Marie Barnes of Watsonville. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a 11:30 AM celebration of life service, Monday, May 9th held at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angles 40842 Fremont Blvd, Fremont. Burial will follow at Irvington Memorial Cemetery. A Memorial will take place in Soledad, CA at a later date. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Skyline Care Center in Salinas and Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a favorite charity.
