Mother: Nellie Perry
As the result of a family quarrel, Monday morning at 8 o'clock, Silas Mortimore of Glenrock was shot and fatally wounded by his 17-year-old son, Dewey. He died Wednesday morning, never regaining consciousness. The cause of the quarrel has not been divulged, but the shooting followed an assault by Mortimore upon the oldest boy, Allen, aged about 25. To protect his brother Dewey grabbed the rifle and fired at his father. Silas Mortimore was a well-to-do ranchman and was an old resident of this county. For over twenty years he had made his home on the Glenrock ranch. The family consists of a wife, three sons and two daughters. One daughter is married and lives in Casper. (Information was obtained from his obituary in the Douglas Budget Feb. 18, 1915; mortuary records and
Wyoming death certificate.)
