Addison, 82, of Ponca passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, S.D.Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Congregational United Church of Christ in Newcastle, Neb., with the Rev. Gary Kimm officiating. Burial will be in Newcastle Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present, at Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca.Ruth was born Aug. 9, 1924, in rural Murdo, S.D., the daughter of Alfred and Helen (Lewon) Sorenson. She graduated from Ponca High School in 1942. She worked in the shipyards in California during World War II.She married Keith Addison on March 16, 1947, in Ponca. The couple farmed in the Newcastle area until 1978, when they retired and moved to Ponca.She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 82 of Newcastle. She also was a member of the Entre Nous, the Newcastle Birthday Card Club, the Congregational United Church of Christ, the Ladies Aid and the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, quilting and her flower garden.Survivors include her husband, Keith; two daughters, Linda and her husband, Gary Burns of Hartington, Neb., and Marilyn Miller of Yankton, S.D.; two brothers, Vern Sorenson of Tucson, Ariz., and Kenneth Sorenson and his wife, Mary of Port Angeles, Wash.; a sister, Evelyn Gladem of Columbus, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Broveak of South Sioux City; three grandchildren, Amy Nieuwsma, Brenda Johanns and Kimberly Miller; five great-grandchildren, Jessica Wiebelhaus, Gillian Johanns, Peyton Nieuwsma, Corin Johanns and Addison Nieuwsma; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Wilma Andrews; and a son-in-law, Steve Miller.
