Eleanor graduated with honors from Beverly High School in 1946 and was employed as a secretary for the United Shoe Machinery Corp. She also worked as a medical secretary for St. Peters Episcopal Church in Beverly. She and Clifton Rock were married July 10, 1948 and lived in Beverly for five years. They then moved to Boxford, MA in 1953, where Eleanor worked as the town librarian and volunteered for numerous non-profit community organizations.
In 1996, She and Clif moved to Cheney, WA, to be near one of her brothers and her sister. Once there, she became active in the Cheney Garden Club, Friends of the Library and Spokane Interplayers Theatre. She is dearly loved and her presence is greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and her brother, Robert Hathaway.
