Miss [Effie] Grace DOWNS, 77, retired postmistress at Grass Creek, died this morning at 6:50 o'clock at St. Joseph's hospital in Logansport. Last rites are incomplete. The Harrison funeral home in Kewanna will be in charge.

Last rites were held this afternoon at the Grass Creek E.U.B. church for Miss Effie Grace DOWNS, 77, Grass Creek, who died Saturday at 6:50 a.m. in St. Joseph hospital at Logansport after a long illness. The Rev. John REDDIX officiated and burial was in the Grass Creek cemetery. Miss Downs was born March 1, 1889, in Ross county, O., the daughter of Alfred and Mary BARKLEY DOWNS. She was a retired postmistress at Grass Creek, having served in that post 49 years. Surviving are 11 nieces and nephews.
