Albert E. Cox, 75, retired Provo building contractor, died this morning at his home in Salt Lake City after a lingering illness. He had made his home in Salt Lake City since 1949.
He was born October 18, 1878 in Becker, Minnesota, a son of John H. and Sena M. Larson Cox. He received his early education in Becker and came to Utah with his parents in 1890. They made their home in Eureka.
He married Pearl Morgan June 15, 1899 in Goshen. They made their home there where Mr. Cox managed the Morgan Hotel. She died March 5, 1939.
Mr. Cox moved to Provo in 1912 where he established a contracting business which he conducted until his retirement in 1939.
He was a life member of Eureka BPOE Lodge No. 711.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jean Cox, Salt Lake City; a grandchild, Mrs. Mildred Kasteler, Salt Lake City; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Luella Oaten, Evanston, IL; Mrs. Alice Shank, Longview, WA; Mrs. Sam (Vera) Thorn, Los Gatos, CA.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Berg Mortuary Drawing Room Chapel. Burial will be in Provo Cemetery.
