Former Lock Haven Lady Breathes Her Last at Altoona Tuesday Night.
Mrs. Emma Geary, of this city, yesterday received a telegram conveying the intelligence that her mother, Mrs. Nancy Lander, had died at her home, 816 Lexington avenue, Altoona, Tuesday. Mrs. Lander had been ill only a few days with congestion of the lungs. She formerly resided in this city, but for the last twelve or fifteen years has made her home at Altoona. She was 86 years old, having been born in Milton, October 20, 1810. Her husband Jefferson Lander who is 90 years old, and the following named children survive: W. A. Lander, of Altoona; Mrs. Emma Geary, of this city; Mrs. S. L. Bittner and Mrs. N. J. Farnsworth, of Altoona, and Misses Mary, Sarah, Rebecca, and Minnie at home. A large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren are also yet living. The funeral will take place at Altoona Friday.
The Altoona Tribune of yesterday morning pays this tribute to the deceased:
Mrs. Lander has resided in Altoona since 1882, previous to which year her home was in Lock Haven. She was a life long member of the Presbyterian church and at the time of her death belonged to the First congregation of this city. Despite her advanced years she retained her faculties remarkably until seized with her last illness. She was a lady of fine character and her many admirable qualities will make her loss felt keenly by those who knew her.
