Charlotte F. Hettmansperger Shriner, 87, of Goshen, died late Thursday night, December 5, 2013, at IU Health Goshen Hospital where she had been since Sunday.

She was born June 16, 1926 in Wakarusa to Abrahm and Edith (Carroll) Lehman.

On January 13, 1945 she married Howard J. Hettmansperger. He died February 8, 1971. She later married Lester W. Shriner May 18, 1974 at Northside Baptist Church, Elkhart.

He survives along with two daughters, Rhonda L. Weaver, Raleigh, NC and Jane (Saul) Bryant, Elkhart; a son, James Craig Hettmansperger, Vandalia, Michigan; four step-sons, Larry (Phyllis) Shriner, Randy (Meridith) Shriner, Stan (Jean) Shriner, all of Goshen and Brian (Tammy) Shriner of Elkhart; two step-daughters, Sue (John) Bowman and Sharon (Ken) Stoll, both of Elkhart; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild and a sister, Laura (Carl) Stack of Elkhart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; a son, Doug Hettmansperger; a step-daughter, Gloria Bontrager; four sisters, Katherine Kulp, Helen Cook, Marie Lehman and Francis Metzler; and three brothers, Robert, Nelson and Paul Lehman.

A lifelong resident of Elkhart County, Mrs. Shriner retired from CTS in 1986 after 26 years of employment.

A 1944 Wakarusa High School graduate, she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles.
