Walter was the son of David L Willison and Delilah Scott. He married Alma Root in South Dakota. All of their children were born there. They had 7 children; Edith, David, Floyd, Florence, Elaine, Glen, Eleanor.

1910 Census of Fort Sisseton & Military Reservation, Marshall County, South Dakota lists Walter at age 31 years; wife, Alma, age 33 years; and children - Edith, age 7 years; David, age 6 years; Floyd, age 4 years; and Florence, age 2 years.

1920 Census of Sheridan County, Montana lists Walter at age 41 years; wife, Alma, age 43 years; and children - Edith, age 17 years; David, age 15 years; Floyd, age 14 years, Florence, age 12 years; Elaine, age 8 years; Glen, age 5 years; and Eleanor, age 2 years, 9 months

Sometime between 1910 and 1920 Walter and his family moved to Scolby, Montana to ranch. Walter was a very good rancher. He was kind to his animals and took very good care of them. He worked hard on the farm and did well.

Walter D. Willison Dies in Hospital
Walter D. Willison, 83, a retired cattle rancher from Scobey, Montana died in a local hospital. Mr. Willison had lived in Montana fifty years before moving to Seattle last years. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. George Lake, of Bellingham, Mrs. Bryan Izell of Seattle, Mrs. James Fulwider of Medford, Oregon, and Mrs. Herbert Magnuson of Big Fork, Montana, three sons, Glen of Clallam Bay, Floyd of Grosse Point, Michigan, and David of Sherman Oaks, California; two brothers, Carl of Bellingham and D. K. of Arlee, Montana; three sister. Mrs. Blanche Crabtree, Mrs. Bess McKee and Mrs. Delilah Deveraux all of Seattle; 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenacres Memorial Park.
