Immigrated from Germany when she was about 7 years old from a small village called Barnewitz with her parents. She was born at Barnewitz. Lived in Chicago from 1895 to 1897. Then to Rib Lake, Wisconsin. She Married August Carl Martin in 1908 at Rib Lake, Wisconsin. They moved to Olanda, Montana about 30 miles north of Terry, Montana in 1913. Her and August had 10 children. 1 child died in infancy. She died in the Miles City hospital in 1950 from leukemia.

Funeral services were conducted in the Lutheran Church in Terry on Friday afternoon, December 22, for Mrs. August Martin, age 62 years who died in a Miles City hospital on the previous Tuesday after been hospitalized for the past four months. Services were conducted by the Rev. Leland Wurster.

Bertha Martin was born February 29, 1888 to Frederick and Maria Sabrowski in Brandenberg, Germany. She came with her parents to the United States at the age of seven and located in Chicago where they lived until 1897. She was united in marriage to August Martin on September 8, 1908 and in May 1912 they moved to Prairie County and homesteaded North of Terry. They have made their home here since that time and recently have lived in Terry.

Survivors include her husband, August Martin; her mother, Mrs. Frederick Sabrowski; one brother, Robert Sabrowski, N. Dak; three sons, Herbert of Seattle, Alfred of Harlowton, and Arthur of Terry; six daughters, Mrs. Earl Carpenter of Waukon, Wash, Berniece of Harlowton, Mrs Roy Hoagland, Mrs. Forest Tusler. Mrs. John Trask, and Mrs. Lester Tusler of Terry. she had 20 grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her father in 1942 and one son at the age of 10 months in 1910.

Hymndic music before and after the service was played by Mrs. Emil Morast. "Jerusalem, Thou City Fair and High." abd "Abide with me, Fast Falls the Eventide" were sung by Mrs. Leonard Corneliusen and Pastor Wurster.

Acting pallbearers were Botthilf Kuehn, Mohn Marsinsen, Ed Moos, Henry Moss, Otto Scheid, and Al Solle, Honary Pallbearer was Robert Stepper. Internment was made at the Terry Cemetery.

Note: Robert Sabrowski was her adopted brother.
