HOLBROOK, HOWARD UELES (BUD) - age 91, of Knoxville, entered Heaven on Tuesday, April 25, 2012. Howard was born in Coeburn, Virginia on September 4, 1920. He entered active duty in the service of his country on December 16, 1942. Staff Sgt. Holbrook proudly served with the 8th Air Force, Army Air Corp, 384th Bomb Group, as a nose gunner on B-17's flying missions over Central Europe. Howard retired from Glidden Paint Co. in 1987 after 40 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Victory Class at Arlington Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Hazel Mae Helton Holbrook; parents, Pat and Pearl Holbrook; brothers, Gothard, Sam, Albert, Clifford, Gilbert, Paul, and Wayne; sisters, Beulah, Gladys, Lerley Medford, and Helen; grandson, Christian Michael. Left to cherish his memory are sons, Jimmy and wife Sandra, Donald, and Stanley; grandson, Jimmy D. Holbrook, Jr. and wife Lana; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Drew, and Hannah Holbrook; sisters-in-law, Marie, Nola Mae, and Minda Holbrook, Grace Goforth, Paula Wolfe and husband Wayne; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 28th from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. Funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel with Reverend John Daniel Lovelace officiating and solo by Geneva Miller. Following funeral service a procession will travel to Lynnhurst Cemetery for interment will full military honors by East Tennessee State Veterans Honor Guard.
