Henry Schmidt, 70, died Monday, December 30 at his home; he had been in ill health for several years. Services were held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 2 at United Presbyterian Church in Rodman. Rev Lawrence Johnson officiated, with burial in the West Bend Cemetery, Schellhammer Funeral Home of West Bend in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are the widow, Belva; sons, Lyle, Rodman; James, Mallard; Keith, Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Mrs. Marlene Johnson, Ankeny; nine grandchildren; one brother Charles, West Bend, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Krug, West Bend.

Mr. Schmidt was a lifelong resident of this area and a retired farmer. In 1928 he married Belva Perkins at Pocahontas, and they established their home on a farm in the Rodman-West Bend area.

During the service, David Fehr sang, "in the Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," accompanist was: Mrs. Walter McCormick.

Casket bearers were: Gilbert Schmidt, Roland Schmidt, Everett Schmidt, Otto Schafer, Kenton Krug, and Louie F. Schafer.

Floral committee was: Mrs. Lester VanHorn and Mrs. Bill Moser.
