Frederick "Red" Eugene Munroe

85, passed on April 17, 2012. Born February 22, 1927 in Winter Haven, FL to Charles Frederick and Mary Erdelle (Hubbard) Munroe. He was married to Judith Elaine (Frazier) who preceded him in death. He is survived by two children, Scott (Zina) of Boca Raton, FL, and Kimberly (Craig) Braunagel of Indianapolis; 4 grandchildren, Alex Braunagel, Dylan, Dalton and Skylar Munroe; daughter-in-law, Tammie; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Parsons; several nieces and nephews; and his long-time friend, Sharon.

He went to Gordon Military College Barnsville, Georgia and then enlisted in the Merchant Marine Cadet Corps for basic school at Pass Christian, Mississippi.

He was an engineering graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy and served during WWII and the Korean War in the Navy. Later he sailed for Mobil, before becoming a Manufacturers Representative for Higgins and Hubbard Companies, traveling Indiana and Ohio until retirement. Red loved golf and did play the Old Course at St. Andrew's, Scotland. He was a member of the WWII Roundtable and LST Veterans Association.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, with calling from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Funeral Home, Remembrance Hall , 700 West 38th Street. Military graveside honors will follow the funeral service.

Red was a friend of Bill W., and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Indianapolis Intergroup, 136 East Market, Suite 1030, Indianapolis, 46204, or Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY, or St. Vincent's Hospice of Indianapolis.
