V. J. "Pete" Thompson, 49, of Howe, Oklahoma, died February 25 in Sparks Memorial Hospital in Fort Smith. Born February 2, 1931, at Truth (Madison County), he was the son of Vernon and Vena Stansell Thompson. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Howe, was a veteran of Korea and was an employee of Arkansas Best Freight Co., in Fort Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Linda Sue Sisk Thompson of the home; two sons, Randall Thompson of Howe, Oklahoma, and James Thompson of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Brenda Ally of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Mrs. Trena Sommers of Poteau, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Reela Calihan of Heavener, Oklahoma; his mother, of Springdale; five brothers, Archie Thompson of Greenfield, California, Claude Thompson of Kingston, Crawford Thompson, John Thompson and Charles Thompson of Springdale; six sisters, Mrs. Estelle Freeman of Lowell, Mrs. Goldie Nobles of Howe, Oklahoma, Mrs. Ruth Griggs and Mrs. Dixie Elsey of Huntsville, Mrs. Floye Butler of Springdale and Mrs. Rose Wright of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and two grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, in Downum Funeral Home, Heavener, Oklahoma. Burial was in Howe, Oklahoma Cemetery.
