Ada J. (Caton) Helm passed away Jan. 31, 2002, at the Parkside Care Center in Wenatchee.
She was born Sept. 3, 1911, at Burwell, NE, to Charlie and Victoria (Bolen) Owen.
Ada married Eddie Caton in 1930, and lived in Julesburg, CO, where her sons, Lloyd and Floyd were born. She later lived at Fort Collins, CO. The family moved to the Yakima Valley in 1945 and to the Wenatchee area in 1951, where Mr. Caton and the two boys practiced the masonry trade, when the sons returned from military service. Mr. Caton passed away in 1964.
Ada married Gaile Helm in 1966 and moved to Puyallup, where Gaile was employed. While there, Ada became very interested in and knowledgeable of antiques, particularly antique glass. Visting yard sales, flea markets, and salvage stores, where they bought, sold and traded antiques, became their weekend hobby. They returned to Wenatchee in 1982 to retire, where they enjoyed "junking" as a favorite passtime. Mr. Helm passed away in 1993.
Ada is survived by her daughters-in-law, Mrs. Floyd "Ruth" Caton, on Wenatchee, and Mrs. Lloyd "Esther" Caton of Tonasket; her grandchildren, Janie (and Jim) Williams of Wenatchee, Lloyd Caton Jr., Rhea (and Tim) Freeman, and Vanessa (and Bob) McDaniel, all of Tonasket; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands, both sons, and a granddaughter.
Funeral Services for Ada Helm will be held at Betts Memorial Chapel on Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at 11 a.m., with internment at Wenatchee City Cemetery to follow. Visitation wil be from 8:20 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, 2002. Services are under the care of Betts Funeral Service, 302 Ninth Steet, Wenatchee, WA, 98801.
