Moved to Livermore Falls/Jay area around 1894, from Gorham/Berlin, NH area. Frequently throughout his life he used the "translation" Cross for his surname LaCroix, but also reverted at times. And some of his children ended up doing that as well, so some Cross family are descended from him.
Married Laura Desharnais, fathered 3 children (that lived to adulthood), divorced. Married Bertha V. House, who had been married to John Huston of Roxbury and with whom she had many children. After remarriage in 1915 to Pierre LaCroix (AKA Peter Cross), she and Pierre had several more children together. Many of these births are recorded in the name "Cross" but some of the children reverted to using LaCroix, as did Pierre by his death in 1966. Pierre LaCroix is supposed to be buried "alongside Bertha" as it states on his mortuary papers, here in Evergreen Cemetery, but no plot marker or listing can be pinpointed for him.
