Los Angeles Mayor. He served as Mayor of Los Angeles, California from 1872 to 1874 and from 1878 to 1882. He came to Los Angeles in 1864, having been appointed Revenue Assessor by President Abraham Lincoln. He served six years as a Wells Fargo agent. The first use of electric lighting in the city of Los Angeles was during Mayor Toberman's term in office.
