Spainish Monarch. Born Maria Vittoria Carlotta Enrichetta, Princess del Pozzo della Cisterna, she was the daughter of the prince and patriot Carlo Emanuele, a Senator of the Kingdom of Italy and of the Countess Louise de Merode, with her has extinguished the line of Princes della Cisterna. She married in Turin on May 30, 1867 with Amedeo of Savoy, Duke of Aosta, son of Vittorio Emanuele II, King of Italy. In 1870, following the deposing of Queen Isabella II of Spain, her husband Amedeo was called by the Cortes to get on the Spanish throne, but his reign was brief and ended with the abdication after only three years. During her reign she stayed out from any policies activities and she devoted herself to works of charity. The princess was of delicate health, and shortly after her return to Italy she died of tuberculosis. From his marriage with Amedeo of Savoy, were born three sons including Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy Aosta, from which descends the current branch of Savoy Aosta.
