Argil worked as a timberman, carpenter & a coal miner.
Argil was a Veteran of World War II. He served with the US 159th Army Division in the Pacific. The division was later transferred to Europe where it merged with the US 106th Infantry Division and Argil servied 8 months in Europe. Before the merge of the two divisions, the 106th had taken on many casualties during an attack. On December 16, 1944 the German army had served notice on American troops that a full-scale attack had started. This was the prelude to the Belgium Bulge which followed.

Born 9 Aug 1919, at Streeter, he was the son of the late Daniel C. Hatcher and Paradyne Richmond Hatcher.
Mr. Hatcher was a retired carpenter and was a member of Carpenters Local Union No. 1911 in Beckley. He was also a former coal miner for 16 years.
Mr. Hatcher was a member and deacon of Camp Creek Primitive Baptist Church at Flat Top.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and was a lifetime member of the Shady Spring VFW post.
Before he enlisted in the Army, he was a timberman in Connecticut and New Hampshire and spent 15 years as a coal miner.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Hatcher in 1976; his second wife, Isabell Hatcher in 2003; two infant daughters, Regina and Serina; two infant brothers, Albert and Earl; an infant sister, Theresa; brothers, Lewis, Melvin, Lacy, Clarence, Andrew, Seldon, Austin and Elmer; and a sister, Bessie Hatcher.
Survivors include a son, Edward L. Hatcher of Daniels; a brother, Howard Hatcher of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, Bobby Edward, Daniel Lee and Tracy Allen; four great-grandchildren, Daniel, Breanna, Tyler and Little Bobby; and two special friends, Robert Smith and Edward Reichard.
Service will be Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring Chapel, with Elder Jerry McGrady officiating.
Burial will follow in Birchfield Cemetery, Ellison Ridge.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Oak Hill VFW Post 3110 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and family and friends.
