Edith is the third of eight children born to James Spence and Ruth Ann OSTRANDER. Her father was born in Montrose, Scotland and her mother in St. Clair, Michigan.
Edith married Robert Wallace Kilpatrick in 1899 and shortly thereafter, while living in Aldine, Harris Co., Texas, they had two children. Their first child was a daughter who they named Neva. Their son was named Emery L. but he went by "E.L" or "Pat"...never Emery.
Edith and Robert divorced in 1931 and Edith eventually moved out to California where she lived with her daughter Neva until her death.
