Death of Edward G. Davis
At his home on North Washington street Friday afternoon occurred the death of Edward G. Davis, one of Herkimer's best known and highly respected young man, Mr. Davis had been ill for some weeks. On September 20 he was operated on at St. Luke's hospital, Utica for the removal of a cancerous growth. It was at first thought relief had been obtained, but it proved only temporary and three weeks ago he was brought to his home and continued to fail until death came to his relief.
Mr. Davis was born at Paines Hollow 38 years ago.....On September 17, 1890 he came to Herkimer and accepted a clerkship in the Herkimer National Bank.....
17 years ago he married Miss Lillian Vrooman of Paines Hollow, a niece of Col. and Mrs. J. W. Vrooman of this village......
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife and one daughter Miss Grace, his father A. B. Davis of Ilion, two sisters Mrs. Frank Myers of this village and Mrs. F. R. Hollister of Ilion.

The funeral of Mr. Davis was largely attended yesterday afternoon, prayers being offered at the house, followed by public services at the M. E. Church at 2:30 p.m.
200 members of the Herkimer Lodge No 423, marched from the lodge to the house, thence to the church and later to the cemetery on Oak Hill.
