James William "Whispering Bill" Williamson and Saluda Ann Coleman Williamson are actually James's Uncle and Aunt, but after the death of James's real father Thomas Edmon Williamson, the Williamson children were taken in and raised by their Uncle and Aunt.

James William "Broadfoot" Williamson was named after his Uncle James William "Whispering Bill" Williamson,which was his father Thomas Edmond Williamson's brother.
