She was a daugther of Willam Spencer and Harriet Duckworth. On April 4, 1864 she married Henry Clay Cook at Allegany County, Maryland.

They had eight children:

Ida J. (Harvey M.) Boward (1869-1945),
Thomas W. (Lizzie Simpson) Cook (1870-1915),

Clemetine (Samuel Frederick) Winter (1877-1963),
