The 1900 US Census for Kauai, shows the younger children in Charles Christians household. Listed as "Grandson" , is a James Hewsen ( or Newsen ?) born in April 1900,shortly before Anna Sophie Christian passed away, and coincidentally , the same month/year as youngest son "Claus"(My Grandfather-Peter Claus Christian Sr.)
Grandson James,race listed as "PH"(part Hawaiian), and his father is listed as born "Tahiti" Perhaps this is a clue in the mystery of why Charles Christian oldest child, Anna Sophie Christian , passed away at the age of 23 in May 1900. Did she die , from complications of childbirth ? What became of Charles Claus Christians grandson, James ? (CLICK ON PHOTO TO ENLARGE)
