Welch - Ronnie Lee Beaty, 55, died Sunday. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and service 10 a.m. Wednesday, both at Thomas Funeral Home. (Tulsa World)

Ronnie Lee Beaty, "a hard piece of iron," and lifelong Welch resident, passed away Sun., Apr. 22, 2012, at his childhood home west of Welch, lovingly surrounded by his wife and children. He was 55 years old.

Ronnie was born Jan. 22, 1957, in Vinita, Okla., to Leonard Eugene and Eula Mae Beaty. He was a graduate of Welch High School. He was active in sports and 4-H as a young man. On Dec. 19, 1975, he married his high school sweetheart, Wendy Chenoweth. The couple made their home on the family farm west of Welch, where they raised their three children.

Ronnie drove a coal truck for Bill's Coal Company for many years, as well as several other coal companies. He later worked for Eastern State Hospital until ill health caused him to retire.

He loved his wife, kids, grandkids, family, friends, the farm, winning at the casino, piddling on projects, donuts, and visiting. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by Wendy, his loving wife of 37 years; one son, Sam Beaty and his wife, Stephanie, of Doniphan, Mo.; two daughters, Brandy Garbani and her husband, Josh, of Claremore, Okla., and Cassie Beaty of Welch; one brother, Rick Beaty, of Welch; one sister, Sandra Arnold and her husband, Rick Curry, of Welch; grandchildren, Nate and Landon Beaty, of Doniphan, Mo., Ashley, Trent, and Nick Garbani of Claremore, Okla.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Beaty, Don Paul Chenoweth, Tom Chenoweth, Larry Layton, Morgan Riley, and Shawn Arnold. Family and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.

There will be a visitation for family and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tue., Apr. 24, 2012, at Thomas Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wed., Apr. 25, 2012, at Thomas Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Lee will officiate.

Interment at Walker Cemetery, Welch, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or The American Cancer Society, c/o Thomas Funeral Home, P.O. Box 231, Welch, OK 74369.
