Maria Andrea Contreras, 86, of Palm Springs, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at her home of cancer.

She was born in Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico to Pablo and Maria del Refugio Contreras (Gaeta) on January 28, 1926. She worked at Desert Memorial Hospital before retiring.

She is survived by three sisters, Rosario Jimenez of Two Rivers, Wisconsin; Maria Guadalupe Contreras of Palm Springs, and Alicia Segura of Mexico; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Gonzalo Contreras.

Maria Andrea was a kind and loving person who enjoyed life and had many friends and people who loved her. She never had kids of her own, but she was a mother to all of her nieces and nephews and adored each and every one of them. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.

A visitation was held on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Wiefels and Son Funeral Home in Palm Springs. Funeral services were held at Our Lady of Solitude Parish in Palm Springs.
Andrea was laid to rest at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City.
