Per Federal Census & other official records, "Sonny" was the youngest of three sons who lived to be adults (siblings: Walter Charles & Oscar Charles) born to Henry & Clara (Koch) Bentley. In the 1900 Census, his mother reported she had two other children who died as infants.

"After he graduated from the Third Ward School, Manitowoc; Mr. Bentley worked for Manitowoc Gas Company, Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company and Globe Foundry as a truck driver for over 30 years.

"He married Lydia Schmidt in 1921, in Waukegan, IL;
he was age 26, she was 21. She preceded him in death in 1924. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No 706 for over 33 years."

On 1 January 1953, Henry 2nd married the widow, Emma (Marshek) Koehler [1892-1953] in Manitowoc; she lived just over seven months longer.

"Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Russell Wheelock, of Manitowoc; five grandchildren, Russell H. and Bernadine Wheelock of Manitowoc, Sharon Lee and Robert Ginn of Pensacola, Fla., Richard Wheelock and a friend, Karen Youman of Denver, Colo., Robin Wheelock of Dallas, Tex., and Jeffery Wheelock of Manitowoc; four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary; three brothers and a sister."
