SERVICES FOR J.F. NIELSON

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 23, at 2 p.m. in the LDS Chapel for Joseph Franklin Nielson. L.P. Christensen of the bishopric was in charge. A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Violet Zabriskie, Mrs. May Jensen, J.A. Bateman and H.J. Kotter sang "Through Deepening Trials" and the invocation was given by Soren Sorenson. The quartet sang "Oh My Father" and "I Need Thee Every Hour". Other musical numbers were a vocal duet, "In The Upper Garden" by Mrs. May Jensen and Mrs. Violet Zabriske, and a vocal solo "Face to Face", by J.A. Bateman. The speakers were J.I. Jensen and Bishop H.J. Kotter of Elsinore and Hartley Greenwood of Inverury, who spoke of the splendid character of the deceased. A large number of relatives and friends from neighboring towns were in attendance as well as a large number from the ward. The benediction was offered by Hans Hermansen. The body was taken to the Inverury Cemetery for interment, where the remains of his wife were buried twenty-three years ago. He was sixty-six years of age.

Joseph F. Nielson was born in Denmark, December, 1861. He came to Utah in 1879 and at the age of twenty married. His wife died, leaving him with two small children. He next married Miss Trent Ostenkjar of Inverury, who died in 1904 leaving him with eight children, the youngest being nine days old. He proved himself a very faithful father and doing the work necessary to keep up the home. He leaves ten children to mourn his demise. They are Mrs. Lloyd Howes and Alvin Nielson of Marysvale, Mrs. Jesse Day of Stockton, Mrs. George Hardy of McGill, Nevada, Joseph Nielson of Koosharem, Louis Nielson of Inverury, Mrs. Frank Lyons, Mrs. Herman Hermansen, Mrs. Niels Anderson and Harold Nielson of Elsinore. Harold, the youngest is an adopted son. He also leaves nineteen grandchildren, one sister, Mrs Sophia Kennedy of New York, and one brother Soren Nielson of Inverury.
