Lola Sexton, of Dayton, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Rhea County Nursing Home. She was 95.

Born Dec. 1, 1903, in Rhea County, Mrs. Sexton lived in Rhea County all her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick (Pat) Kearny Sexton who died in June of 1984; parents, Richard Henry and Delia Ann Fine Jordan; and grandson, Larry Arnold.

Mrs. Sexton was a homemaker by trade and years ago worked for Waldridge Knitting Mill, Robinson Manufacturing Company and Gholdston Basket Factory. She and her husband were among the founders of Garrison Baptist Church in Dayton where Mrs. Sexton taught Sunday school for over 60 years.

Survivors include her daughters, Betty S. Arnold and Dean S. Crawley, both of Dayton; sister, Irene Arnold of Dayton; grandson, Dr. Philip Arnold and wife, Doris, of Athens; granddaughters, Sharon Sharpe of Dayton and Daphne Wood and husband, Ken, of Blackville, S.C.; great-grandsons, Jason Arnold of Tallahassee, Fla., Tim Sharpe and wife, Sherri, of Dayton, Bill Sharpe of Dayton and Jeff Wood of Blackville, S.C.; and one great-great-granddaughter, Kayla Sharpe of Dayton.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Aug. 2, in the chapel of Vanderwall Funeral Home with Rev. David Jordan and Rev. J.C. Gholdston officiating. Burial was in Buttram Cemetery in Dayton. Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton was in charge of the arrangements.
