HAYS — Mabel Esther Brungardt, 90, Hays, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003. Mrs. Brungardt was born Mabel Thornton on April 3, 1913, at Covert.
She was a cook at Hays Good Samaritan Center and a senior companion for 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kilian, in 1963; and a son, Darrel.
Survivors include four sons, Leroy of Topeka, Kenneth of Bella Vista, Ark., Don of Carlsbad, Calif, and Ron of Hays; a daughter, Mary Colwell of Pittsburg, Calif; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Hays. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays 67601.
Memorials may be made to Hays Good Samaritan Center or for Masses. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
