The Rev. Delmar Feazel, 74, a long-time resident of Raleigh, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999 in Ferrell Hospital at Eldorado.

He was born Oct. 23, 1924, at Harrisburg, to the late Siegel and Mary Feazel.

On Aug. 4, 1946, he married the former Lorena Farmer, who survives. Other survivors include a brother and four sisters, Donald Feazel of Thompsonville, Margie Choate of Centralia, Fern Vinson of Mount Vernon, and Connie Giles of Panama City, Fla.; and Grace Weldon of California. One brother, Leo, also preceded him in death.

His elementary education was accomplished in the Old North Williford School in Dorris Heights. He graduated from Harrisburg Township High School and entered military service.

The Rev. Feazel was a World War II Veteran of the South Pacific Campaign, serving in 1943-1946.

Following military service, he attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., and Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he received bachelor's and master's degrees.

The Rev. Feazel was ordained as a Baptist minister at Galatia Baptist Church in August, 1946. He was a member of Broughton Baptist Church, where he was pastor for 25 years before retirement from the ministry. Other Baptist churches where he pastored were Long Branch, Gaskins City, Union Grove, and Equality. He was a regular Baptist Hour speaker, with a record of being on the Baptist Hour longer than anyone else.

He was a retired teacher with 34 years of teaching in the Equality and Eldorado school systems. He was a life member of the National Education Association and was also a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association and the Gallatin/Saline Retired Teachers Association.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and prior to the funeral on Monday, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. Dr. James Baldwin officiated. Interment followed with military rites by the Eldorado American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War at Raleigh Masonic Cemetery.
